This series of exercises was designed to help me understand how to manipulate the core elements of design—such as shapes, space, and composition—to convey meaning and emotion. Below are the exercises I completed as part of this exploration:
2A: Creating faces to represent various emotions using simple shapes
2B: Conveying the same emotions from 2A, but using only one dot, exploring minimalism
2C: Representing the same emotions using two dots, discovering how subtle variations in placement can change perception
2D: Developing a design based on a descriptive word, focusing on how typography and composition can reflect meaning
2E: Implied white space within designs using only dots and squares, highlighting how negative space can shape the visual experience
2F: Further exploring the use of implied white space, incorporating dots and my initials to create a personalized design
These exercises helped me build a deeper understanding of how design elements can be manipulated to communicate complex ideas in a simple and impactful way
